As residents of the Twin Tiers should know, by this time each year, a little snow must eventually fall and it looks like there is a possibility that may happen in the next 24 hours.  But the anticipation will probably be greater than the amount of snow that actually accumulates.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton says a winter system will bring rain November 7, which will change to snow for the afternoon to evening before ending.

Forecasters say the switch to snow is expected earliest at higher elevations. Snow amounts are expected to range from under an inch at lower elevations, to a few inches in the higher terrain of New York.

While the region is not looking at any sort of a big snow event, motorists should bear in mind untreated wet or slushy roads may ice over during the night as much colder air and gusty winds overspread the region. This may result in slick roads tonight into Friday morning.

Local emergency services officials say they always anticipate an increase in spin-outs and other problems on the roads when the first accumulating snow comes and drivers have to take a little time to adjust their driving skills for the season.
