Fire investigators are going to be looking into the cause of an early morning blaze January 4 at a home on Route 79 in Whitney Point.

The fire in the Town of Barker between Bull Creek Road and Chestnut Drive was reported at around 3:12 a.m. January 4, drew firefighters from five departments and shut down Route 79 had to be shut down in the area.  The road was closed for about 5 hours.

There have been no reports of injuries.

A posting on the Broome Firewire indicates that the house is vacant.

Firefighters from Whitney Point and Lisle were quickly joined with support from Chenango, Killawog and Chenango Forks.
