Cortland County Sheriff's officials say a Homer man was driving drunk in an unregistered and uninspected vehicle when he crashed August 3 in the Town of Scott.

Officials responded to the accident at Route 41 and Country Lane and found a Cadillac DeVille, driven by 25 year old Robert Petit IV had left the road and hit several trees.

Petit was trapped in the vehicle for a time. He was removed by members of the Homer Fire Department and airlifted to Upstate University Medical Center in Syracuse for treatment of his injuries.

A passenger in the car was not hurt.

Petit is charged with drunk driving, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving an uninspected vehicle, speeding and driving across hazard markings.
