High Profile Cases Up for Sentencing in Broome County Court

A couple high profile cases are on the docket for Broome County Court.

Sentencing is set for September 24 for a man who admitted shooting and killing a woman at a party Easter Sunday morning at a home on Crocker Avenue in Johnson City.

Police say 46 year old Erika Smith was shot at the home April 1^st following an altercation involving party-goers and 29 year old Corey “Gutter” Robinson.

Robinson was located in Georgia and returned to Broome County.

Police say Smith was not the intended target when Robinson had left the gathering and returned with a gun, opening fire outside the Crocker Avenue home. Two others were wounded in the shooting.

In July, Robinson pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of felony manslaughter.  He is to be sentenced to 15 years in prison under the deal.  He could have faced up to life in prison had he been convicted of murder.

Sentencing is also scheduled for a Binghamton man who was accused of having a large amount of heroin in his Emmett Street home when police raided it in February.

38 year old Aaron Mosely was charged with a half dozen counts, including criminal possession and sale of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Police said they found 23.3 grams of heroin in the home, drug packaging material and prescription pills during the raid.
