Harper Stantz Memorial Tennis Courts Taking Shape at Rec Park
Paving crews have been busy as a tennis court construction project moves forward at Recreation Park on Binghamton's West Side.
The old courts at the park were removed several weeks ago. Excavation work including installation of new water lines has been underway.
Broome Bituminous Products of Vestal is the general contractor on the tennis court project.
Workers from the company delivered asphalt to the site and began paving operating last week.
Construction of the tennis complex is expected to be completed in the next few weeks.
The facility is to be named the Harper M. Stantz Memorial Courts at Recreation Park. The 16-year-old Binghamton High School student had played tennis with a friend at the park just before she was struck by a vehicle while walking home. She died as a result of her injuries.
