Gun, Machete Used in Dispute at Binghamton House
Binghamton police are investigating a violent disturbance at a residence during which a machete-wielding man reportedly was shot in the face.
A dispute erupted at 197 Murray Street in the First Ward shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Police were told a fight involving several people broke out on the first-floor of the two-family home just north of Meadow Street.
People familiar with the incident say that as the disturbance intensified, one man began waving a machete.
He is said to have slashed the hand of another man. That man then apparently fired four shots from a gun. At least one shot wounded the other man in the face.
Binghamton police sealed off the area of the attacks for hours as detectives began their investigation to sort out the sequence of events.
Two women and three children who were in the second-floor apartment at the time of the disturbance were not hurt.
