Gun, Drugs Seized Across Street from Binghamton High School
Police found a loaded handgun and illegal drugs in a raid at an apartment house directly across the street from Binghamton High School.
Investigators executed a search warrant at 99 Oak Street Monday. They discovered a gun, oxycodone pills packaged for sale and $300 in suspected drug sale proceeds.
The drug raid occurred at a six-story building a few steps from the high school.
Police said 31-year-old Justin Flake, who lives in the apartment house, faces several felony weapon and drug-related counts.
Flake was charged with one count of criminal possession of a weapon related to the loaded gun. He was charged with one count of criminal possession of a weapon due to a previous conviction.
Flake also was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia.
Just over two years ago, a man who also was at the 99 Oak Street building was arrested for having a loaded .38 caliber revolver. He ultimately was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison after he was convicted of weapon and perjury charges.
