A Binghamton man admits he illegally carried a handgun he used to shoot a man on Pearne Street in the City several times almost a year ago.

37 year old Dushon Goldwire pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in the July 30th incident that did not seriously injure the victim.

26 year old Michael Perez was targeted by Goldwire, who fired six shots, following a confromtation.

Witnesses said Goldwire drove off at a high rate of speed.  His vehicle was found abandoned a short time later near his home on Morgan Street.

Goldwire had five previous felony convictions.  If he had gone to trial, he could have faced a stiffer sentence if convicted as a persistent felony offender.

Goldwire had been indicted on felony attempted murder, attempted assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Sentencing is expected in September.
