Guilty Plea in Binghamton Shooting
A Binghamton man admits he illegally carried a handgun he used to shoot a man on Pearne Street in the City several times almost a year ago.
37 year old Dushon Goldwire pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in the July 30th incident that did not seriously injure the victim.
26 year old Michael Perez was targeted by Goldwire, who fired six shots, following a confromtation.
Witnesses said Goldwire drove off at a high rate of speed. His vehicle was found abandoned a short time later near his home on Morgan Street.
Goldwire had five previous felony convictions. If he had gone to trial, he could have faced a stiffer sentence if convicted as a persistent felony offender.
Goldwire had been indicted on felony attempted murder, attempted assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Sentencing is expected in September.
