The group, New York Jobs Now is spending over $2.5 million for advertising in support of Proposition One to expand casino gambling in the state.

The group is targeting the downstate area to try to boost favorable votes November 5th to locate casinos with table games in areas outside of New York City.

Governor Andrew Cuomo had selected regions upstate for Las Vegas-style gaming parlors with the idea of boosting tourism. Those first selected regions include the Southern Tier, Catskills, and Albany area.

The owner of Tioga Downs is hoping Proposition One is approved and the racino in the Town of Nichols is selected to expand.

Meanwhile, Vista Hospitality Group has indicated it plans to also put in a bid for a casino in the Greater Binghamton Area.

The Tioga County Chamber of Commerce and a group of elected county officials called a news conference to publicly voice their support for the passage of Proposition One.

Opponents have primarily objected to what they termed the 'rosey' wording on the proposition that promises tax cuts, jobs and other perks.
