Ground is Broken for Binghamton Accessible Park
A renovated space at a West Side, Binghamton park that will accommodate people of all ages and abilities should be ready for use this summer.
Ground was officially broken March 1 for OurSpace Park at Recreation Park.
Mayor Richard David says the four acre parcel is designed to be full adaptive and will be the only fully-accessible playground of its kind outside of New York City.
The project secured a $500,000 grant in 2014 from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and worked to collect more than $250,000 more in private donations and volunteer resources.
The total cost of the project is put at $750,000.
