Greater Good Grocery Opens on Binghamton’s North Side
The North Side of the City of Binghamton officially loses its “Food Desert” title with the official opening of a new grocery store.
The Greater Good Grocery on State Street is operated by the Broome County Council of Churches and profits help fight food insecurity.
The grocery store is open to anyone but is specifically directed at the challenged North Side neighborhood that has not had a source of fresh produce and other groceries for over 20 years.
The Greater Good Grocery is located in the new Canal Plaza development that includes affordable, accessible housing as well as community and retail space. The development is at the former site of a Big Lots store across from the Binghamton Plaza.
