New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says the downstate lawyer who became the state’s second patient with coronavirus exposed many more people before being diagnosed.

For now, the man’s wife, two children and a neighbor are among nine people in the same Westchester neighborhood diagnosed with COVID-19, bringing the total number in the state to 11, all downstate.

In announcing the additional cases of coronavirus in New York yesterday, the governor also announced State University of New York and City University of New York students studying abroad in countries on the coronavirus watch list are being recalled. Those students will be flown by charter jet to Stewart Airport and put in a dormitory setting for a 14-day quarantine.

Binghamton University says it is following a ban on University-funded travel to China, South Korea Italy and Iran.  The New York State recall of students also applies to those studying abroad in Japan.

A statement from the University advises B.U. students to contact the Decker Student Health Services Center if they think they may have coronavirus before going to the center and to call if they have fever and cough or shortness of breath.  The statement says there are no COVID-19 cases within the Binghamton University community.
