Four Assisted from Town of Maine House Fire
The Southern Tier Chapter of the American Red Cross says it is helping four residents displaced by a two-alarm fire in the Town of Maine January 7.
The blaze on Fredericks Road was reported shortly before 9 a.m.
Two firefighters reportedly suffered minor injuries when they partially fell through floorboards of the home.
About a half dozen fire departments were called to the scene and Fredericks Road was blocked off between Pitkin Hill Road and Edson Road for hours.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Officials say it appears the blaze may have started in the basement of the home.
