Former Tioga Corrections Officer Indicted on Thefts From Jail
A former Tioga County Corrections officer is under formal indictment, accused of stealing drugs and supplies from the county jail.
36 year old Jonathon Edwards has pleaded not guilty to felony burglary and misdemeanor misconduct, petit larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Edwards was arrested June 18 and is free on bail.
The Candor man was reported to have worked for Tioga County for over ten years and was relieved of his duties and placed on leave following an internal investigation that lead to his arrest.
According to the felony complaint, Edwards is accused of unlawfully entering a locked evidence room and stealing hydrocodone pills along with small items from the jail kitchen and maintenance facilities.
