The man who served as the official voice of Broome County Executive Debra Preston since she was sworn into office in January of 2012 until he resigned, effective September 17, 2013 will be on a weekend jail work detail for 30 days after pleading guilty to felony drunk driving.

29 year old James Worhach, who had a previous DWI conviction in 2005, was accused of driving drunk on  Colfax Avenue in the City of Binghamton on March 3, 2013 and failing to stop at the scene after crashing.

In addition to 30 days work detail with the Broome County Sheriff’s Office Working Weekends program, Worhach has been sentenced to five years probation.

He also pleaded guilty in connection with a violation count of leaving the scene of a property damage accident and was issued a $1,000 fine and conditional discharge.

Worhach had been making a salary of $44,022 a year as Communications Director.
