Food-a-bago has been helping the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse raise tons of food for over 20 years.

While the effort to fill a donated camper, this year again provided by Hillcrest RV, always raises several thousands of pounds of non-perishable food for the CHOW warehouse, pantries and other community programs, officials with CHOW say the need persists.  The donated food from this major food and fund-raiser usually is gone through the system in a matter of weeks.

The camper is manned by TownSquare Media radio personalities daily (about 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.) through next Monday, November 11 at 9 a.m. when the food donations with be weighed and the totals added up.

A big portion of the drive is the “shopping cart challenge” that was launched a few years ago by the owner of the Old Union Hotel in Binghamton, Andy Kipp.  Kipp called on local businesses and organizations to issue challenges to bring in cart-loads of food for the effort.

If you want to make a contribution, but no one is in the camper, you can drop off donations in the CHOW barrels at Weis Markets and at area Subway stores and Gary’s-U-Pull-It.
