Johnson City Man Arrested for Drug and Weapon Offenses
A Johnson City man has been arrested by Johnson City police on multiple drug and weapon offenses.
Florian Gjiza, 27, of Johnson City, was arrested on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, on multiple drug and weapon charges. The Johnson City Police Department discovered Gjiza after receiving a call about a suspicious person who was passed out in a vehicle located on Gannett Drive.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Gjiza unconscious in the car. Upon speaking with him, the officers noticed a glassine envelope containing what they suspected to be narcotics. Johnson City Police say that further search of the vehicle led to the discovery of cocaine, compressed fentanyl pills, a machete, metal knuckles, a drug scale, packaging, and U.S. Currency. The police arrested Gjiza and took him into custody for processing.
Gjiza is facing multiple charges, including four counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a narcotic drug, and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Additionally, he is facing two counts of criminal possession of drug paraphernalia in the second degree, a misdemeanor.
Following his arrest, Gjiza was taken to the Broome County Jail after a central arraignment.
