Motorists who travel on Floral Avenue in the village of Johnson City can look forward to a smoother ride soon.

Drivers have been expressing frustration with the rough road conditions on the busy street.

Crews from G. De Vincentis & Son Construction Company conducted milling operations on the street between Ackley Avenue and Margaret Street last week.

Workers this week are doing additional preparation work before paving gets underway.

The resurfacing operations are expected to take place next week, weather permitting.

Mayor Christina Charuk told WNBF News that Floral Avenue is a very important thoroughfare for Johnson City residents and visitors. She said the planned work has been one of the village's highest priorities for the current construction season.

In addition to the upcoming Floral Avenue repaving, sections of Burbank Avenue and Grand Avenue also are scheduled to be resurfaced in the coming weeks.

This year's other major road reconstruction project was on Overbrook Road, north of the Oakdale Commons.
