Officials are investigating the cause of a fire at an apartment house in Castle Creek.

Firefighters from seven departments responded to the blaze on Hyde Street at 1:24 a.m. October 23, which appeared to have started as a car fire and spread to the building.

There were no injuries.

Officials say the Southern Tier Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting three or four families.

Emergency Services Dispatchers say crews from Chenango, Whitney Point, Chenango Bridge, Choconut Center, Chenango Forks, Endwell and Killawog were sent to the scene largely due to the lack of availability of water.

The fire companies were on the scene for several hours and at least one unit was called back to the scene after 4 a.m. with a report of flames appearing under a vehicle.
