City of Binghamton Fire Investigators are looking into the cause of a blaze that damaged an apartment house at 126 Prospect Street October 23.

City Police assisted in evacuating the tenants of the three-story building.  Fire crews were called to the structure at 8:26 p.m. and had the blaze out within minutes.

A third floor tenant, who was escorted out of the structure suffered smoke inhalation. She is expected to be okay.

Fire officials have said, had it not been for the quick action of Police arriving on the scene, the outcome could have been “very bad” for some of the tenants inside the building.

Fire officials say the building had working smoke detectors.
