Finishing Touches Applied at SUNY Broome Culinary Center
The transformation of a historic Binghamton library into the SUNY Broome Culinary and Event Center is nearly complete.
The Carnegie Library building on Exchange Street will provide a downtown home to the facility.
Professor Rey Wojdat said a certificate of occupancy is expected to be issued for the site by the end of November.
Wojdat said "a lot of equipment" already has been installed inside the original building and an addition that was constructed on the east side of the library structure.
SUNY Broome faculty members plan to begin setting up their offices in December. Students should start attending classes at the site in the spring.
The library had been unused for more than 15 years before work on the $20 million culinary project got underway.
