Finger Lakes Craft Brewery to Open Owego Taproom
Fans of craft beer in the Southern Tier can look forward to the planned opening of a new taproom this spring.
Lucky Hare Brewing Company has been operating a facility on the east side of Seneca Lake in Hector since 2016. The company now is preparing to set up a Tioga County taproom.
Company president Richard Thiel said the taproom will be located where the Farmhouse Brewery had operated at 17 Lake Street in Owego. Farmhouse closed its doors at the end of October.
The State Liquor Authority is processing Lucky Hare's application for the Owego site. Thiel said he hopes a temporary operating permit will be granted by the end of April. If that happens, the taproom could have a soft opening in the first week of May.
Lucky Hare operates a taproom in Hector and a production facility in Watkins Glen. Theil said its Ithaca taproom, which opened in 2019, will be closing on March 18.
In addition to featuring Lucky Hare beer, the Owego site also will offer spirits, wine and cider. The taproom also will have a limited food menu.
Lucky Hare now is hiring employees for the new facility.
