The Reading Fightin Phils ended the Binghamton Mets hopes for a second consecutive Eastern League Championship September 12 with a 4-2 win.  The win completes a three game sweep of the B-Mets by Reading.  The Fightin Phils won the first two games of the series in Binghamton before heading to Reading to complete the sweep.

Gabriel Ynoa started on the mound for Binghamton but was chased early after giving up four runs in the first two innings.  Joe Benson got a couple of those runs back by ripping a two-run home run. But, after that the B-Mets were held off the board the rest of the way as Reading knocks Binghamton out of the playoffs with the three-game sweep.

Reading heads to the Championship Round against the Bowie Baysox who advanced after defeating the Altoona Curve to win their series in four games.  It is the first time in 15 years that Reading will play in the final round.

Binghamton's starting pitching fell short of expectations and B-Mets' hitters could not deliver against Reading pitching. Binghamton finished second in the Eastern Division in regular season play while Reading ended up in first place and also earns the division's playoff crown.
