FBI Offers $50,000 Reward for Information in Killing of JC Man

A reward of $50,000 has been posted in connection with the investigation into the fatal shooting of a business owner in Johnson City.

The reward was announced Monday afternoon by Thomas Relford, special agent in charge of the FBI's Albany field office.

50-year-old Shakeel Khan was shot as he was closing up his restaurant on March 30, 2019. He had operated Halal Bites at 652 Riverside Drive.

Relford asked anyone with information that might be helpful to the investigation to call (800) GIVE-TIP. That number is (800) 448-3847.

Johnson City police chief Brent Dodge said this has been one of the toughest homicide cases he's encountered during his law enforcement career.

Relford and Dodge spoke at a news conference outside the Binghamton Federal Building on Hawley Street. Broome County district attorney Michael Korchak and New York State Police representatives also attended the announcement of the reward offer.

Some of Khan's relatives were on hand for the news conference but they did not wish to speak.
