Father and Son Charged in Binghamton Robbery
Binghamton police say a 16-year-old boy and his father are suspects in an armed robbery at a West Side convenience store.
Investigators say the two were spotted by a patrol officer walking near Oak Street and Gerard Avenue shortly after the reported heist at Laurel Mart.
A store cashier told police the robbers stole money, rolled coins and a wallet from the store at 161 Laurel Avenue shortly after 7:30 p.m. Monday.
The employee said the suspects ran from the area.
Authorities say 36-year-old Rashawn Williams and his son, 16-year-old Krystopher Williams, have been charged with first-degree robbery.
The suspects were arraigned in Binghamton City Court and sent to Broome County Jail.
Detectives say a handgun believed to have been used in the heist was recovered, along with the wallet, money and rolled coins.
