Family to Open Thai Restaurant on Endicott’s Washington Avenue
Members of a town of Union family are putting the finishing touches on their new restaurant in the heart of Endicott's business district.
Villa Thai restaurant at 29 Washington Avenue will hold its grand opening on Friday.
Dee and Viengsy Malaythong said they are excited as they prepare to open the eatery with their son and daughter, Justin and Trinity.
The Malaythongs had operated Mai Thai restaurant on Grand Avenue in Johnson City since 2017. That establishment closed in late January.
Viengsy Malaythong said the Johnson City restaurant had developed a loyal customer base over the past few years. Although patrons enjoyed the place, some weren't happy with the lack of nearby parking.
Those visiting the Villa Thai restaurant will be able to park in a municipal lot behind the building. The new restaurant will be able to seat about 70 people compared to 48 at the previous place.
Family members have been busy over the last four months preparing the site of Villa Thai.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 10:30 a.m. Friday at the new restaurant.
Villa Thai will be open this Saturday and Sunday for its grand opening celebration. After that, its regular hours will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
