After hearing the O'Reilly Auto Parts jingle on the radio and TV for years, people in the Binghamton area will finally be able to shop at one of the national chain's stores.

The company's first location in the region will open its doors this weekend. The new store at East Main Street and Garfield Avenue in Endicott will start operating this Saturday.

O'Reilly Auto Parts is headquartered in Missouri. It has been expanding rapidly in recent years, although it's had a limited presence in New York state. The company now operates about 6,300 stores in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The Endicott store will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. It will operate every day of the year except Christmas.

The company initially has hired 11 people to work at the new store but that number is expected to grow to between 25 and 30 when the place is operating at "full capacity."

An O'Reilly manager said "we want to be the friendliest auto parts store in town."

O'Reilly acquired the two-acre site from Marchuska Development last December for $695,000.

LOOK: See how much gasoline cost the year you started driving

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.

Read on to explore the cost of gas over time and rediscover just how much a gallon was when you first started driving.
