Endicott Man Pleads Guilty in Assault on 2-Month-Old Boy
An Endicott man admits he caused serious injuries to a baby sometime between August 30 and November 1 of last year in the Village.
32-year-old Michael Merwin pleaded guilty to felony assault in the case.
At the time of his arrest in early November and indictment in December,
2018, authorities did not give details about the assault that apparently happened at a South Loder Avenue Apartment or if Merwin was related to the 2-month-old boy.
The child suffered a broken leg, elbow and ribs.
Merwin had been indicted for felony assault and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.
Under a plea agreement, he will be out of jail on interim probation for ten months until his scheduled sentencing in January. An order of protection has also been issued for the victim. If he abides by his release terms, Merwin could avoid a prison term.
