Endicott Man Found with Loaded Gun After Police Pursuit
State troopers and Endicott police officers took a village man into custody following a brief chase that started on Route 17 in the town of Union.
Authorities say 26-year-old Nicholas Weathers of Endicott illegally possessed a loaded handgun when police caught up with him.
According to New York State Police, Weathers was pulled over after troopers spotted a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 17.
When troopers advised him to get out of the car, he allegedly drove away toward the village of Endicott. He's accused of driving recklessly before eventually parking the vehicle on Madison Avenue and running from the area.
Police say after Weathers was taken into custody, he was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City where he was evaluated and released.
Weathers was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and unlawfully fleeing an officer in a vehicle.
State police say Weathers was arrested on November 27. A news release detailing the charges was issued on Wednesday.
