Authorities say 32-year-old Robert Sherwood of Broad Street was arrested Wednesday.

Investigators say Sherwood was charged with two felony counts of second-degree assault. He also was charged with one count of third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.

Sherwood is accused of injuring the children on March 8. During the incident, he allegedly intentionally caused physical injury to the three children, who range in age from 5 through 7.

Detectives say the children sustained injuries and bruises to their backs and buttocks areas.

Police say Sherwood was taken into custody at his home without incident. They did not say whether he is related to the children.

Sherwood was arraigned in Endicott village court and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.
