Drugs/ Alcohol Ruled Out of Spencer Fatal Crash
New York State Police say a crash that took the life of a Western New York honor student on a rural road in Tioga County at around 9:30 p.m. March 20 did not involve drugs or alcohol.
19 year old Michael Dmochowski of Lockport was returning from a visit to Ithaca College to talk about a possible swimming scholarship when he ended up on Route 96 in Spencer where his car drifted into the northbound lane on a curve and impacted with a pickup truck driven by a Spencer man.
While the investigation is continuing, witnesses told media the teen had been traveling at a very high rate of speed on an unfamiliar road.
While Dmochowski was pronounced dead at the scene, the driver of the pickup truck was taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre for foot and ankle injuries.
