Broome County Office for Aging says its Meals On Wheels program is in need of volunteers in the areas of Binghamton, Chenango Bridge, Whitney Point, Conklin and Harpursville.

The word through a press release from the Broome County office for the aging says that the need for services in the area has gone up 70% due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Meals on Wheels program provides nutritious and well-balanced meals to older residents, who wish to maintain their independent living life style, and stay in our community.

There are many opportunities, and anyone who wishes to help out as a volunteer driver, or a friendly visitor, can choose from one day to multiple days, between the hours of 11am and 1pm.

Public health guidelines, as instructed through the CDC will be carried out for the safety of all volunteers and clients.

The need for volunteer help is immediate and is targeted to the Binghamton, Whitney Point, Harpursville, Chenango Bridge, and Conklin areas.

Volunteers often express a sense of fulfillment, as they feel like a part of something positive through helping others.

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.
