A Chenango County man died after the pickup truck he was driving struck a deer and went off Interstate 88 in the town of Fenton.

Authorities say 35-year-old Sean Coleman of Bainbridge was pronounced dead at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Coleman died as the result of massive trauma.

The collision happened around 8 p.m. Tuesday near Exit 4 of Interstate 88.

Investigators say the truck overturned after Coleman swerved to try to avoid the deer. Coleman was ejected from the vehicle.

A passenger was treated at Wilson Medical Center for minor injuries and released.
