Thirty-four recruits have made it through more than seven months of training in the Broome County Sheriff's Law Enforcement Academy.

The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2014 was held Tuesday in downtown Binghamton.

A dozen of the graduates are going to work for the Binghamton Police Department. Several other agencies in Broome and Tioga counties will employ some of the graduates. Others will work elsewhere in upstate New York.

This year's academy started in mid-March. Much of the training was conducted at the sheriff's office facility in the town of Dickinson. Some instructional segments took place at other sites around Broome County.

In the weeks leading up to graduation, recruits have been out on patrol with veteran officers.
