Discount Store to Open in Binghamton Plaza
A Binghamton man is preparing to open a retail outlet that he says will offer customers high-quality items at big discounts.
The store - Extreme Bargain Bins - is expected to open next month in the Binghamton Plaza on West State Street.
The owner of the new enterprise, who asked to remain anonymous for the time being, said the bin store concept has been spreading across the country over the last few years.
The store is being set up in a 5,000-square-foot space of the plaza on Binghamton's North Side. It's expected to have 15 bins of various items including toys, electronics and clothing. The shop will liquidate items obtained from major retailers.
Items in the store bins initially will be priced at $7 each on Saturday. The price will be reduced to $5 on Sunday with further daily reductions on remaining items.
The store will be closed Thursdays and Fridays for restocking.
Although the store was expected to open in mid-February, it's now expected to start operating on March 5.
