Police got reports at around 3:26 a.m. July 2 from a Lyft ride-share driver of two men approaching his vehicle in what had been construed as a possible attempted carjacking.  That apparently wasn’t the case and the men approaching the car may have been related to sketchy accounts of someone being chased by a man with a knife.

Available police cars were called in to sweep the area around the bus station, roundabout and Court Streets and one man allegedly involved in the incidents had been detained.

Early unconfirmed accounts indicate the authorities were sorting out whether the incidents are classified as an attempted robbery or larceny.

Investigators are reviewing security camera images from businesses in the area.

We’ll have more details as they become available.
