A big hole that opened up October 5th on Taft Avenue near Ford and Jill Avenue in Endwell may cause traffic to be detoured though surrounding residential streets for several days.

Officials with the Broome County Highway Department said it may take a while to even get a temporary resolution to the hole that has closed the southbound lane of Taft Avenue.

Deterioration of underground sewer pipes could have caused the collapse of the pavement, but officials have not made a final determination as to the cause.

The Highway Department is inspecting the area as plans are made to restore traffic flow.
