Cuomo Apologizes for Actions But Says "I Am Not Going to Resign"

Governor Andrew Cuomo is asking New Yorkers to wait before judging him in the wake of sexual harassment allegations.

Cuomo spoke about the matter Wednesday afternoon after providing a Covid-19 update in his first public appearance in a week.

The governor said he'll cooperate with an independent investigation into the allegations but he said "I am not going to resign."

Cuomo said he now understands that he "acted in a way that made people feel uncomfortable." He said it was unintentional and "I deeply and truly apologize for it."

The governor said "the facts will come out in the attorney general's review" of claims that have been made by women of inappropriate comments and actions.

Cuomo said he "never, ever meant to offend anyone or hurt anyone or cause anyone pain."

The governor said he doesn't believe he's done anything in his "public career that I am ashamed of."
