In an effort to boost lagging COVID-19 vaccination numbers, state and local officials are working to make getting a shot easier.

Chenango County is hosting a first-come-first serve walk-in clinic for the one-dose Janssen Johnson & Johnson vaccine Thursday, May 13 at Greenway Park in Norwich from 1 to 3 p.m.

Residents are advised to wear a shirt that will allow upper arm access. They will have to complete a health screening when they arrive and be prepared to wait 15 minutes after getting the shot.  Call (607) 337-1660 for more information.

Tioga County is going to homes or on-site locations to give the shot in order to reach residents having trouble accessing the vaccine.   Anyone who has physical limitation, cognitive impairment, a chronic condition, caregiving responsibilities, lack of transportation or lack of support that can help them get to an existing site, pharmacy or primary care provider should call (607) 687-8623 and leave a voice mail to get on the list. Residents can also email covidvax@tiogacounty.ny.gov.  The Health Department says once enough people are on the list, they will schedule visits.

Cortland County, meanwhile, is taking registrations for the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine to be given May 19th. Go to the Cortland County Health Department facebook page for registration information. (http://apps2.health.ny.gov/.../appl.../cdmspr/2/counties... )
