A new bar and restaurant catering to sports fans has started operating in downtown Binghamton.

Courtside Bar & Grill at 56 Court Street is holding a "soft opening." It's located at the site of The Colonial, an establishment that closed its doors in April 2022.

Courtside co-owner Chris Kehoe said the business initially will be open for dinners on weekdays starting at 4 p.m. He said it will open on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:30 a.m.

Kehoe said he's in the process of "getting the staff up to speed" during the soft opening period.

Some interior changes were made before Courtside Bar & Grill began operating. One noticeable difference is the addition of more large-screen televisions for patrons to watch sports events.

Courtside will offer outdoor seating along Court Street when warmer weather returns in the spring.

Co-owner Mark Yonaty last spring announced plans to open Courtside Bar & Grill in an effort to "get downtown back to its vibrancy." Yonaty also is preparing to launch Station 45 American Chop House. That restaurant is expected to open soon in the restored Lackawanna Train Station on Lewis Street.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
