A Cortland man is being held without bail after Sheriff’s officials tried to stop him for questioning.

46 year old Artist Quiller was driving a 2012 Chrysler van on Route 41 in the Town of Cortlandville November 15, headed toward McGraw, when officers tried to stop him at around 3:15 p.m.

Deputies say Quiller began driving on the shoulder of the road, passing other vehicles, and was seen throwing what appeared to be drugs out of the window.

He stopped about three miles from the initial attempted traffic stop in a parking lot on South Street in the Village of McGraw.

Deputies say they recovered the discarded drugs on the shoulder of the road.

Quiller is charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and the violations of failure to comply with police, unlicensed operation, unsafe turn and driving to the right of pavement markings.
