Conklin Man Killed in Crash on Binghamton’s South Side
One person died and another was hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Conklin Avenue in Binghamton.
Authorities say 56-year-old Lester O'Dell of Conklin was killed in the collision involving two vehicles near a Tioga State Bank branch office.
The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Friday. A section of Conklin Avenue was closed for hours for a police investigation.
Investigators say O'Dell was driving a van that struck a pickup truck operated by a 65-year-old town of Binghamton man. The truck driver, whose name was not released, reportedly was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment of what were believed to be minor injuries.
City police have not released details of the crash, which is still under investigation. A person familiar with the matter said the van spun around in the roadway after colliding with the pickup truck.
People with information about the incident may contact the Binghamton police detective division at (607) 772-7080.
