Plans are moving forward on a new eatery that will operate in a familiar building on the North Side of Endicott.

Michael Romeo said The Concordia will be located at 109 Odell Avenue. The building is now occupied by the Little Italy Endicott Heritage Center.

The historic structure has been a fixture in the North Side neighborhood for nearly nine decades.

Romeo said he began considering opening a restaurant after the decision was made early this year to close Celebrations on the Avenue, an Endicott catering business he'd been managing.

Romeo said the new establishment will have seating for 49 people on the lower level of the building. He said he envisions the place as providing "an intimate North Side experience."

The menu will be "heavily influenced by Italy." Selections will be rotated seasonally to highlight different ingredients throughout the year.

Romeo said he expects some of the people who've worked at Celebrations on the Avenue will join the staff at The Concordia. He hopes the new restaurant can be in operation by the end of October.

Although plans the closing of Celebrations on the Avenue was announced last spring, Romeo said that venue will remain open for a few more months. He said a couple of local groups are continuing to meet there and it continues to be available for funeral luncheons.
