Comments Taken 24/7 on Pa. Bridge Tolling Plan Through June
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is hosting an on-demand virtual comment period on the idea of tolling major bridges in need of replacement or rehabilitation, including a span on Interstate 81 in Susquehanna County.
Residents can log in anytime until June 1 at www.penndot.gov/funding.
In February, PennDOT announced nine bridges that would be candidates for repairs or replacement paid for by tolls collected through the set up of new tolling devices on the spans that would record EZPass or license plate information. The process is part of the Major Bridge Public-Private Partnership or P3 Initiative approved by the state legislature in 2012.
The draft study in support of the PennDOT Pathways program is available for review and comment at the website, by email at PennDOTPathways@pa.gov or on the hotline at 717-325-6129.
To request assistance in participating in the virtual public meeting or to review the study, contact PennDOT’s Communications office at 717-783-8800 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
