A family's battle with Broome County to prevent a Binghamton home from being sold at auction for back taxes may be nearing an end.

Volodymyr Kurylo has been notified by County Executive Debra Preston that she has set up the closing for the West Side house for Monday.

In an email sent to Kurylo this morning, Preston wrote that she had forwarded his concerns regarding a tax bill to the county attorney and the director of real property tax services.

Kurylo told WNBF News this afternoon that he's "not completely happy" with the situation but, he said, "at least part of the struggle is over."

The sell-back plan for the Arthur Street property was approved by the county legislature Thursday.
