
Procession Route for Chief James Sitek Adjusted Due to Construction
Today, the Southern Tier community will come together to pay final respects to a man who dedicated his life to service, Chief James Sitek.
A processional will take place following his funeral at Saint Mary's Church in Kirkwood, offering the public an opportunity to stand along the route and honor his legacy and show support to his family.
Procession Set to Begin Midday
The processional is expected to depart from Saint Mary’s Church between 12:45 p.m. and 1 p.m. on Thursday. Please note that due to ongoing construction on Court Street, the original route has been modified.

Updated Processional Route
Here’s the updated path for those wishing to safely line the streets and pay tribute:
- The procession will begin on Route 11 from the church in Kirkwood
- It will continue onto Industrial Park Drive, crossing the bridge to Conklin Road
- From there, it will follow Conklin Road/Conklin Avenue to Tompkins Street in Binghamton
- It will then turn from Tompkins Street to Court Street
- Continue along Court Street to Main Street
- The procession will then head to Arch Street in Johnson City
- From Arch Street, it moves to Harry L Drive, then onto Reynolds Road
- The final stretch will be along Fairview Street in Johnson City

Showing Respect Along the Way
Community members are welcome to stand along any part of the route, wave flags, or quietly reflect as the motorcade passes by. Whether you knew Chief Sitek personally or simply want to show appreciation for a life of service, your presence will be a powerful gesture of support for his family and fellow officers.
