Chenango Forks Defeats Chenango Valley in Backyard Rivalry Game
The Chenango Forks Blue Devils scored on their first possession of the game and never looked back as they rolled to a 49-14 victory over the Chenango Valley Warriors at Chenango Valley this afternoon.
L.J. Watson scored with 10:33 left in the opening quarter to put Forks on the board early. Follow-up touchdowns from Dylan Studer and Jack Sherwood made it 21-0 after the opening quarter of play.
In the second quarter the Blue Devils turned two interceptions into touchdowns. Cody Lamond ran a pick-six back from near his own end zone to account for one TD and Watson's second touchdown of the game came on a 38-yard interception return . A one-yard run by Gunnar Giordani coupled with Watson's third touchdown put The Forks in command 42-0 at the end of the first half.
CV got on the board with a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns. Michael O'Neill caught a 21-yard pass from Mark Mullins for one score and Trevor Hope added a 20-yard run to close out the scoring for the Warriors.
