While New York is reporting fewer hospitalizations than recorded in a month, the number of COVID-19 cases continues to grow with another Southern Tier County topping 2,000 cases.

Chenango County over the weekend passed the milestone.  The February 1 update reported 2, 110 cases to-date, an increase of 109 since January 29. There were six more deaths for a total of 45.

Broome County shows a total of 12,418 COVID cases since the start of the pandemic.

Cortland County added 14 cases from January 31 for a total of 3,238. There was one additional death over the weekend for a total of 50.

Delaware County added four cases from January 31 for a total of 1,212. Deaths were unchanged at 35.

Tioga County's last report was January 30, reporting 2,512 cases to-date and deaths unchanged since December 7 at 64.

The weekly update in Pennsylvania shows, for the most part, the rate of new infections seems to be slowing.  Statewide, there were 846,078 cases since the start of the pandemic, an increase of 38,211 from the previous week.

For Northeast Pennsylvania, Bradford County added 140 new cases.  Last week there were 180 new cases.  Bradford now records 3,938 cases. There were four additional deaths for a total of 69.

Susquehanna County added 87 new cases. The previous week, 112 new cases were recorded. Susquehanna has had 1,524 COVID cases to date. There was one additional death for a total of 49.

Wayne County increased in the rate of infection for the past week. Where the county had 121 new cases in the January 25 update, a big improvement from the week earlier with 189 new cases, the update February 1 reported 147 new cases and eight additional deaths. Wayne County now notes 2, 714 cases and 47 deaths since the start of the pandemic close to 11 months ago.
