A Chenango County woman will be sentenced to three and a half years to ten and a half years in prison after agreeing to a plea deal in connection with the death of a baby who had been in her care.

Prosecutors say 38 year old Geneia Rood of Pitcher admitted giving a three month old girl she was babysitting vodka in the baby bottle along with the child’s formula to try to get her to stop crying.

Brenna Quinn was found dead at Rood’s home on September 6 of last year and an autopsy found alcohol in the child’s system.

Rood’s lawyers said the woman had an alcohol addiction and was drunk at the time of the incident.

Rood pleaded guilty to manslaughter and waived any right to appeal.
