The owners of Traditions at the Glen in the Town of Union are confident enough about their chances of winning a state casino license that they have already hired a gaming operator.

The news of the hire came during a presentation May 1 at a question and answer session at SUNY Broome Community College, which recently launched a casino operation curriculum.

Owners Bill and Matt Walsh and project manager John Hussar gave the presentation but would not elaborate on who was hired to run the gambling operation should the resort win a gaming license.

The Traditions at the Glen is in direct competition for a Southern Tier gaming license with Tioga Downs in Nichols, which already runs video slot machines and harness racing.
